Build Your MMA Starter Kit with Cheap MMA Fight Gear

Posted on: August 20, 2011

With the growing popularity of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), more people are looking to train and participate in the sport. In order to truly improve your game it requires a big commitment. Where it all starts is making sure you have all the proper MMA equipment necessary for the training.

You can definitely get lots of cheap MMA fight gear, however, you need all the necessary equipment in order to benefit from the training. The first thing you need to do is establish a realistic budget on how much you can spend. Even if you do not have the money right now, make a plan to save a little so you can have that budget in place.

Working within your budget, look for the cheap MMA fight gear needed. Get a good amount of training clothes so that they last a week without wearing anything twice before they are washed. Wearing old sweaty clothes is a sure way to get an infection or rash. To start, have at least 3 sets of training clothes and buy a pair from a brand you like. You can always add to the clothes later, but this is good amount to start with.

The next thing you will need is 2 pairs of gloves - One 12oz pair for sparring in any striking art and an MMA pair for light MMA sparring, wrestling and grappling. The reason to wear MMA gloves during wrestling and grappling is to get used to grabbing with the gloves on, so you have a feel for it. Also, remember to always wear hand wraps whenever putting on any pair of gloves. Protecting your hands will prevent wear and tear on your hands and the rest of your arm.

Other necessary protective equipment is a good pair of shin pads, mouth guard and Jock protector. Get a nice thick pair of shin pads that do not prevent you from throwing kicks during sparring and get a comfortable mouth guard that prevents your teeth hitting together. The Jock strap is the most overlooked piece of equipment but one of the most important. Be sure to include this to your gym bag.

And finally the most important piece of equipment is headgear. Get MMA headgear that has very thick padding on the forehead region. You can also get headgear with a cage preventing scratches and bruises to the facial area.

This all seems like a lot, however, you will find price breaks, promotions and incentives when buying a few items at once and many websites offer free shipping as part of the order. Get all the cheap MMA fight gear you need and have fun training.
